You did a very good job making Sarah's and Matt's wedding day special.  Thanks for making the day one that we will all treasure.

Suggestions For A Memorable Reception

"Honoring the Folks"Idea Starters
Do you know what song your parents first danced to? Find out and tell your DJ at your planning meeting. Soon after the dancing begins at your reception, have your DJ play their songs. You could have your DJ announce the songs, so everyone knows the special meaning of the moment or, keep it a private little gesture just between your parents and you! What special gifts to have your parents relive moments of their own romance on your special day

Personalized Bridal Party Introductions
When it is time to introduce those special friends in your Bridal Party to your guests have your DJ call them in, two by two, onto the dance floor with a little info about each attendant. For example, "Teri graduated from High School with Christine. Without Teri Christine would have never passed Algebra. She also makes killer brownies but won't tell anyone, not even Christine, the recipe." Your attendants will feel honored, and your guests will love being formally "introduced."

Flying Flowers or…
If you like, you can add to or replace the traditional bouquet toss with a bouquet presentation. Your DJ can call married couples onto the floor and dismiss coules based on how long they've been married. Those married five years or less will be dismissed first, then those married five to ten years, and so on. The couple that has been married the longest is the last to be dismissed, and as a celebration of their long marriage, the bride presents them with the bouquet.

Keepin' It Dry
These days sober receptions are becoming more common. Many establishments offer a variety of alternatives to alcohol. Ask your caterer or reception staff for ideas. Here are some suggestions for keeping your reception refreshing:

  • Water, whether bottled, plain, flavored, or mineral
  • Non-alcoholic beers and wines.
  • A juice and smoothie bar, including all types of blended and non-blended fruit drinks and juices.
  • Punch, made from fruits, juices, and other luscious liquids to create a variety of thirst-quenching concoctions
  • Sodas (a.k.a. "pop"), including the usual array of caffeinated and decaffeinated colas, root beers and "un-colas."
  • Sports drinks, like the kind that quenches your thirst after a nice long hike or… wedding ceremony
  • Floats, malts and shakes, and any other blended or non-blended ice-cream drink you can dream up.

  1. "I Will Be Here" (Steven Curtis Chapman)
